A series of eerily accurate predictions from a popular app called Prophet has the city of Santa Barbara on edge. The app, created by tech mogul Elliott Bennett, claims to forecast users’ futures, but some predictions have turned deadly.
Of course, SBPD’s unlicensed psychic Shawn Spencer and his ever-reluctant partner Gus are drawn into the chaos... and the deeper the investigation goes, the more Shawn's chemistry with a certain grumpy Detective grows.
Prepare for angst. Especially because Mommy Madeleine is evil here.

Randy Bradley didn’t stand out. That was the strange part—he just was. Always early, always quiet, moving like he was scared of making too much noise. People like that usually disappear in places like fast food kitchens.
Benson noticed him, though. Couldn’t help it. Something about Bradley’s soft voice and lowered eyes made him want to grab him by the hair and bash it against the kitchen counter. But sometimes, when Randy looked at him with that dumb, gentle face, benson would feel heat crawl up his neck. And it wasn’t just anger. That’s what scared him the most.
Randy never asked for any of it. But there’s a kind of violence that comes from loving something too much—the kind that doesn’t feel like love at all. Just a kind of cuteness aggression taken to its bleakest extreme: the sick need to crush what is tender, simply because it is.

Summary
Randy felt terrified.
They were on their way to Ms. Beard's house... they were on their way to Ms. Beard's house and Benson now looked more like a cornered animal, wild and out of control, ready to attack at any second, and that made Randy feel absolutely terrified for her.
(Canon divergence were they don’t reach Ms. Beard and instead Benson takes Randy on a very stressful and traumatic road trip)
