Summary
"But yeah, you and Jannik. That's surprising. I wouldn't have thought you had a lot in common. What do you two even talk about?"
"Oh, well, you know." Carlos gestures vaguely, fumbling for the words. "We don't really talk— Sometimes we practice together. Or we used to. Not so much lately. But we, uh, sometimes we just talk. About life."
Roger's eyebrows go up. He glances at Novak with what's probably supposed to be a meaningful look: are you seeing what I'm seeing? Novak can't even summon the energy to remind Roger that one of them has actually been around, and therefore might know a little more about what's up with what on tour these days. Not that it takes a lot of effort to see that Carlos and Jannik are equally obsessed with one another. Jannik doesn't like to advertise it, but Carlos has always worn his heart on his sleeve. Novak thinks there are probably subterranean species of fungus that have picked up what Carlos is putting down when it comes to his rival.
That said, Carlos clearly didn't expect to be grilled on his little crush by Roger Federer of all people.
After the Shanghai final.

Bookmarker's Notes
He had said, “oh, Siobhan, a daughter” like he was pronouncing the name of a rare and carnivorous flower, or a particularly good wine.
