On the final night before a major reset, the elite MMO guild Avid Rankers completes a flawless, deathless raid clear. For three years, the guild has thrived as a close-knit community of players—humans and beastkin avatars bound by skill, routine, and an unspoken rule to keep real life out of the game.
That rule begins to collapse during the post-raid celebration in the guild’s floating castle hall. Long-suppressed tensions surface, especially between Sammy, a hyena tank, and Garry, a human healer, over identity, trust, and the meaning of meeting “in person.” Before the conflict can be resolved, a mysterious hooded intruder appears in the guild hall.
With a single snap, the game’s limits vanish. Touch, scent, and pain become real. The guild members realize they are no longer logged in—and worse, that they were never all from the same world. The beastkin are not role-players or avatars, but truly anthropomorphic people from their own realities, long dismissed as fantasy.
