She’s crouched on the ground, her purple hoodie carelessly balled up on the floor beside her. Her hair is released from its ponytail, dark strands falling over the shoulders of her scrub top. Soft slurping noises are coming from her direction.
“Uh…pretty weird place to hang out after hours here, Crash.”

Jade has gone along with a fair few of Kit's really really bad ideas, like the time they let the class bearded dragon out of its cage in third grade or the time they tried to ambush Airk and ended up locking themselves in the back seat of his truck, but this might be the worst idea Kit has had yet. But Jade has never been able to say no to her best friend. So, when they both decide to move to New York City after spending four years apart at separate colleges and Kit decides they should be roommates, Jade agrees.
And it's really a bad idea.

Sharp cheekbones, straight nose, and a strong jaw gave her an imperious air, and despite the fact that she was shorter than Jade – and tied to a tree – she still somehow gave the impression that she was looking down at her. This was even more impressive given the entire left side of her face was one massive bruise, and her eye was swollen almost completely shut.
