    Michael Kaiser had always prided himself on control. His life was a symphony, each note played to his exact specifications. Nothing could shatter his carefully constructed world—until the phone call.

    It came late at night, an unwelcome intrusion into the serenity of his apartment. He frowned as his phone buzzed, the number unfamiliar. He almost ignored it but felt an inexplicable urge to answer.

    "Is this Michael Kaiser?" a voice asked.

    "Yes, who is this?" he replied, irritation lacing his tone.

    “Mr. Kaiser, we’re calling regarding Mr. Alexis Ness. He was brought into our hospital after being found unconscious on the street. He appears to have been attacked.”

    The locker room should’ve been empty. Kaiser had waited to take his shower till everyone was gone and he was sure he could be alone. So why could he hear people talking?

    The closer he got to his locker the louder the voices sounded. Kaiser was quick to pick up Ness’ laugh. He couldn’t tell why it made him angry, of course he could assume that it was because that laugh was supposed to be for him and him alone.

    Kaiser couldn’t curve his curiosity, he needed to see who Ness was talking to.

It bleeds into his voice as he shakes his head and says, “That’s not the same at all. I’ve always been like this. This is what I am. Someone turned you into the gun fiend.”

    “So?” The corners of Aki’s lips twitch up to match the dark humor in his voice. “We’re both devils now. What difference does it make how we started out? What matters…” Aki lays his human hand against Angel’s cheek. “…Is that I can touch you.”
