They say this shit to each other at the end of the trip because it’s the end of the trip. They won’t see each other until the next transatlantic flight, until the new year. They say it, they do it, maybe Miles will take Phoenix’s hand from Phoenix’s lap and hold it at all the red lights between here and the airport—they can allow themselves these things, when everything’s made up and the points don’t matter.
