“That’s what this is about?” Mark sets Renjun’s phone down on the table. “You wrote a poem about…a guy that works with cats? At a café?”
“You make it sound stupider than it actually is,” Renjun groans, kicking him from under the table. In all fairness, it is stupid, very much so, but he can’t stand when his own stupidity is recognised by people that aren’t himself, Mark included. “Shut up and tell me if it’s good or not.”
(Or, Chenle works at a cat café part time, and Renjun is entirely normal about it.)

Summary
Renjun waits until Chenle is taking a sip of his tea to tell him, “I’m sleeping with my husband."
Chenle doesn’t quite do a spit-take, but he does start sputtering. “That’s great,” he says, once he recovers. The look on his face says otherwise. “I’m happy for you."
It is kind of great, actually. Or it would be, if Renjun hadn't married Mark for the sole purpose of keeping his visa.
Or: Within the span of one year Mark and Renjun go from being strangers, to friends, to friends with benefits, to lovers. Throughout it all, they're husbands.

“It doesn’t have to be that perfect,” video Chenle says, voice more subdued than his usual sunny camera disposition. “Really, none of these date night foods have to be perfect. The care you put into your cooking is what makes the final dish taste good. My boyfriend has better knife skills than me anyway.” He says the last part with a laugh.
There’s a few extra seconds of Chenle explaining the kimchi soup base, but Jaemin can’t help replaying the “my boyfriend has better knife skills than me” part. It’s innocuous, yet it makes his heart skip a beat.
Then, Jaemin exits full screen and gets an eyeful of the caption.

Summary
Jaemin got drafted fifteenth overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs, grinning so wildly that it almost cracked his face in two as the general manager shook his hand, slipping that ugly blue and white jersey over his perfect head. Cameras flashed, the dark blue contrasted terribly with his mess of pink hair, and that had been that. Jaemin was officially out of reach, out of Chenle’s life forever.
Eight thousand kilometers away, Chenle had watched on a tiny phone screen in the privacy of his room, burrowed into one of Jaemin’s old sweatshirts—stolen on one of their late night adventures—and cried.

Or, Chenle is perfectly fine (read: so unbelievably not fine at all) playing college hockey two years after kissing Jaemin on the night that Jaemin left him for the NHL. Of course Jaemin has to come back and throw a sexy ass wrench into all of his life plans (read: again, no plans at all, he’s kind of a mess).
