“i’m sorry.” he says, as juwon scrubs his neck, that familiar hollow between his collarbones.
juwon hushes him. he scrubs dongsik from head to toe, and then himself. he turns on the shower to rinse them, pulling dongsik to him.
they stand beneath the stream of water, juwon’s arms wrapped around dongsik. juwon mumbles reassurances to him, rubbing circles into dongsik’s warmed skin. dongsik trembles against him, pressing his cheek against juwon’s. he nods every now and again, answering juwon’s promises.
juwon pulls back. he takes dongsik’s face into his hands, ghosting his thumbs across the apples of dongsik’s cheeks. he asks something, and dongsik closes his eyes and nods.
(tl;dr: a depressive episode hits dongsik hard and juwon is there, always, to hold him.)

Summary
That’s the start of Juwon’s letters.
He begins them in bold, unornamented calligraphy, the large characters flowing from his pen as if by machine. The messages he writes are varied, and mostly meaningless. He writes about the cavernous love he feels. He writes about how Dongsik appears to him on any given day: beautiful and lonely, an unmoored boat on a tumultuous wave.
Sometimes, Juwon copies poems from his phone: love sonnets, or ballads with misplaced sentiment. Sometimes, he writes about how angry he is. Sometimes, he writes his jumbled thoughts, spur-of-the-moment. He always signs the letter, ‘Yours,’ and seals the envelopes.

Summary
“What are you gonna do if you make it out of here?” Xue Yang asks, holding up an empty bottle of chocolate sauce.
Lan Zhan doesn’t answer, so Xue Yang turns to face him. He’d seen Lan Zhan move in his peripheral vision, but now he watches, unobstructed. Lan Zhan kneels and bows his head, lips moving in silent supplication to something Xue Yang has never understood. It’s a long moment before Lan Zhan opens his eyes and answers.
“I’ll probably keep walking. Get as far away from here as possible.”
Xue Yang casts a doubtful look. The expression is one that Lan Zhan must misunderstand, because he asks,
“Do you have anything you believe in?”
Xue Yang holds up his machete. “Always answers my prayers.”
(TL;DR: Xue Yang and Lan Zhan weather a zombie apocalypse in a Cafe's storage closet.)

Summary
“You lost the bet.” Wangji says, taking Wuxian’s lacrosse stick from him. He points across the field with it. “So. Him.”
Wei Wuxian’s gaze follows the line of the lacrosse stick draws, and lands right on Xue Yang. Blood trickles from Xue Yang’s nose, pooling between his teeth as he grins from ear to ear.
Wei Wuxian angles his head and turns back to Wangji.
“A deal’s a deal.” he says.

Summary
Juwon’s eyes land on the embroidery on the coat’s right breast: the characters of his name.
Immediately, his mind floods with images: the multi-million-dollar navy blue supercar that his seven-year racing contract had afforded him; a black flag with a red circle billowing in his peripheral as he shot down a straightaway; fingers prying at his cracked helmet, his jumpsuit bloodied from chin to shin.
“Keep it.” Juwon tells Dongsik. “You can wear it to my closed-casket funeral.”
Dongsik laughs, and Juwon clenches his jaw.
