Silence doesn’t fill you—it leaves you yearning.
Sound is an inevitable disruption. An inevitable, constant disruption. It always makes you feel bound. It always makes you scorn the never-ending restlessness it brings. It always makes you scorn the agitating chattering behind your back. It always makes you scorn the bitter berating your mother had given to you. Sound doesn’t set you free—it wears you down.
Too much silence can swallow you whole into a bottomless pit of loneliness, loneliess so unbearable it deafens you. Too much sound can shatter you into a million fragments, fragments so sharp it silences you. Life in silence will always crave a life with sound, and life with sound will always desire a life in silence; both perspectives failing to see the difficulties of the other, both blinded by the envied and idealized depiction of the other.
