    Whenever somebody pointed out to Wei Ying that two Alphas of their level would typically be unable to stay in close quarters for an extended time, Wei Ying just waved off their concerns. "It's not like that," he would say. "Lan Zhan isn't a caveman throwback Alpha like that, and I grew up as the middle child, so I'm used to sharing!"

    Of course, the only problem with that is that Lan Wangji absolutely was a caveman throwback Alpha like that. He'd just already decided that Wei Ying was his.

    OR: Lan Wangji decides the Quarantine is the perfect timing to turn his Alpha friend Wei Ying into an Omega.

    “Oh! Lan Zhan! What a surprise to see you here.”

    Wei Ying slipped his backpack from his shoulders and slid into the seat across from him with a smile, leaning forward and resting his cheek on his palm in what he knew to be a cute gesture. Most alphas became wide-eyed and stupid when he did things like this.

    But Lan Zhan looked at him with serene intensity, like a pool of undisturbed water. Like the vastness of space.

    “Wei Ying.”

    It hadn’t been a week since Jin Zixuan died on Qiongqi path, but word had spread fast that Wei Wuxian gotten gravely injured and presumably perished.
    The people chose to believe he was dead, as there was no sign of him since then. 
    In the Cloud Recesses, Lan Wangji tore himself apart.
    In Lanling, Jiang Yanli grieved not only for her husband.
    In Yunmeng, Jiang Cheng’s eyes burned holes into Wei Wuxian’s sword, Suibian. 
    And in a secluded city, Xue Yang handed Wei Wuxian a handkercheif.

    Or: Wei Wuxian escapes after Jin Zixuan's death with the help of the Wens, and a pinky-missing, sharp tongued kid to follow him around.

    “How are you like this- Lan Zhan, how can you say things like this to me-” he sniffles as if he is in disbelief, and another tear races down his temple. “I feel like I’m dreaming.”

    Lan Wangji kisses the tears on his face, stroking his hair soothingly, reassuringly. There is a wild impulse inside him, an impulse that beats in synch with his heart, with lethal sincerity. An impulse that he will not be able to control, if it is provoked.

    /I cannot let you leave./

    “Let’s stay in this dream,” he whispers, gently searching Wei Ying’s teary expression. “Together.”
