You smile, having already expected it from Rocky. "No. We knew each other before all of this, but we weren't together."
He turns to you in his makeshift seat in the cockpit. "Together like only two of you?"
"Together like..." you try to find the words. "Sharing a space, talking to each other about what we're scared of, making jokes, solving problems, all of that."
Rocky doesn't say anything at first, until. "You and Grace already do those things. Statement."Or: As you are recalling moments from your life on earth, you are stuck saving the world with a rock who speaks to you through puppet shows and computers, and a school teacher (also bastardized scientist) who keeps looking at you as if you created all the stars in space.

Summary
In a perfect world, the Hail Mary’s assigned Flight Surgeon wouldn’t have to be woken up early from comatose. You knew when volunteering to be sent that if the Protocol was initiated, there’d be no going back into comatose. You’d be faced with whatever problem the automated care system alerted you with, along with however many years it took to reach the Tau Ceti system before anyone else on the ship woke up.
You’d be isolated. Taking care of three astronauts on the Hail Mary. Nothing prepared you that this mission was about to become way more complicated than you anticipated.

A fourth is needed to complete the mission, someone to watch the Hail Mary team whilst in their coma, sure, the nanny bot could do it but, if it malfunctions then what would happen? So Ryland wakes up deep in space, confused, hazy and with a suicidal maniac who's watched him sleep for 11 years.

Suddenly she leans in close her breath hovers over my lips "well if I was your student, I'd pay a lot of attention to you maybe even earn a couple extra credits" she lowers her voice, her words cause my cheeks to flush and I step back sharply. "What are you implying Y/N?" My voice quavers slightly. "Oh nothing" She shrugs and bounces of her stool to walk across the room to reach the door, "A-And please stop going through the file room" I quickly add swallowing hard, how can she affect me so much?? "I'll tryyy" she sings before exiting the room.
