Summary
Lennon has an anchor wrapped around his foot. No one can see it but him.
His memories are plague-ridden and blank. His Chicago neighborhood, once a safe haven for him, filled with a mundane beauty that he captures with his cameras, is no longer safe. With the return of a serial killer and a concurrent strangeness perverting everything around him, Lennon is alone.
Save for Johnny, the weird guitarist Lennon takes pictures of. Johnny knows a lot.
Lennon has to remember or die.

Summary
In the New Jersey mountain town of Helm's Oath, everybody is trying to get out.
Vincent Negri is stuck in outer space, seeing things he cannot name. Reyes Ortiz is building something in his apartment, trying to move on. Rosa Ortiz is trying to fit into the space they have made for themself, but mostly just trying to leave, to grow up.
When Mr. Ortiz dies, Vincent starts glimpsing him from the corner of his eye.
When Mr. Ortiz dies, a piece of Reyes dies with him. What replaces it is terrifying.
When Mr. Ortiz dies, Rosa loses a part of themself. So they change. And change. And change.
