Summary
Victor watched Mr. Katsuki in the dark, his long fingers flexing on the brim of his hat, his clothes and inky black hair plastered by the rain to his too-thin frame. He was white as a sheet, cheeks hollowed, lips tight, as though the rain, and not circumstance, had washed all colour and softness from him. There was water beading on his spectacles, obscuring the exhaustion in his dark eyes.
"Yuuri..."
"My wife is dying."
Mr. Nikiforov, Duke of Cumberland, first meets Mr. Katsuki, assistant steward to the Giacometti Estate, in Kent.

Summary
Gifts from the gods can come in strange wrappings.
They can also be mixed blessings, as Victor will discover in time.Living alone on the island of Fleves, near Athens, the last thing Victor expects as he combs the beach one morning is a peculiar treasure that appears seemingly from nowhere in the shape of a handsome young dark-haired man. Exotic in his appearance, he is unconscious, his lifeblood mingling with the white sands underneath him. As Victor tries to aid him, he wonders if the stranger will survive the day. Who is he, and how and why did he come here?
The answer to the first question is Yuuri, a traveler from a faraway land.
As for the other questions…those are more complicated. Not every mystery in life can be solved, and perhaps it is just as well to move on. But inconvenient truths have a habit of revealing themselves, sooner or later…Bookmarked by metapsyche

Summary
Atop his platform the Kuninotokotachi smiled, raised hands that were white and clean. He spoke clearly and evenly in his own flowing language, giving benediction and reassurance to the camp of refugees that had been accumulating in this village in Calabria in the last four years. Victor didn't know Japanese, didn't understand what was spoken, but the soft voice washed over him like a river, seemed responsible for the gentle breeze that blew into the proceedings and disrupted the intentions of the merciless sun. A young man in blue under a white umbrella, with his eyes shining, and a smile in his words.
Christophe tugged on his elbow. "Did you hear me, Victor?"
"Mm?" Victor shook his head, trying to clear it.
"I asked if you were ready to meet him."
Victor Nikiforov, reporter for the New York Times, goes to Italy to interview a shinto priest in exile, and makes a friend.
