The two process the heartbreaking proclamation that dangles in the atmosphere. For Izuku, it feels like the painful truth of his reality, but for Katsuki, it’s a gutwrenching realization of how deep the insecurities go.
“Izuku.” The use of his given name activates a rush of tears as he looks at the barbarian. Red eyes are clouded with sincerity, something usually too vulnerable for Kacchan’s liking: “I love you.”
Izuku absolutely breaks, a sob rips the back of his throat, making him suffocate momentarily. His leg falls out of the chair as his arms wrap around his waist.
“That’s not fair,” He can't breathe through the rattling hiccups, “Why can Kacchan love me in every other universe except this one?”
OR: fantasy Katsuki gets swapped with UA Katsuki and Izuku is freaking the fuck out about it

I know that you found out that the mother of the kid was killed months prior and he was living on his own and no one had done anything about it. I know that you raided the kid’s middle school and found nothing. I have to hand it to you, I was impressed by your drive at first. You were nearly hellbent on finding him.”

“Yes,” Kaminari said miserably, finally shoving himself to sit upright. “And we turned him in, but he tried to get me at the last moment because I found him hilarious and I guess he thought that would get him out of an arrest? But Bakugou took the hit for me…”
“He didn’t realize how much I had been holding back before he stripped my self-control,” Katsuki said ominously with a smirk, then he refocused on Izuku. “You alright, sweetheart?”
“S-sweetheart…” Izuku squeaked, his eyebrows shooting up as high as they could go. He felt lightheaded. “Y-your inhibitions were stopping you from calling me-”
“Oh my god, you are so adorable,” Katsuki chuckled.
