Ajax furrows his brows. He doesn’t look at Sara, doesn’t want to see whatever it is that her face expresses. Instead he looks to his hands, how they are laced with scars.
The phantom touches of warm hands linger, fingertips tracing each and every line, worshiping it for what it was. And during that time, he believed the muttering of admiration to be true.
But now as he thinks, maybe that worship was a way to make the other believe it himself. Because loving someone like Ajax, is difficult. It needs a lot of persuasion. A lot of ruminating before judgment is to be cast truthfully.
And maybe Zhongli had desperately tried his best. Only for it to come with a predictable ending.
