Catra lets her eyes wander; in her dreams, the girl always looked like she had emerged from the ocean, white silk around her limbs, flowing with the soft breeze that it was always present. Up until the last minute, she looked almost free. But now— the dark golden fabric pools around her feet, dragging as she moves slightly.
She considers. “You just— you don’t look real.”
Catra thinks that she might’ve seen the girl’s eye soften for a millisecond, but her mouth twists.

Catra rushes her eyes to the girl on his right. Her clothes almost match Catra’s — dark pants, white blouse, although they’re not even as loose as Catra’s. She’s not really used to seeing other girls dressed like her. The dark blue corduroy coat stands out just a little too much against her fair skin, and it does not fit the high ponytail featuring a hair puff. And her brows — furrowed as if they had been born like this.
She adverts her eyes and bites her tongue, does not think about the vague impression of seeing the ponytail move abruptly when she looks up again. Instead, she turns to Glimmer, who says softly: “That was Ms. Grayskull.”Or: The arrival of Ms. Grayskull is an event to the county, but Catra could not care less about a ghost of her past.

Lauma looks down at Ashru. "Worried?"
"Worried?" Nefer echoes and immediately her gaze snaps to Ashru. When Lauma looks back up as she realises she's been caught, all she sees is irritation crossing Nefer's face. "Is this not unfair? You get to understand him but I do not?"—
Ashru tries his best to get Lauma to realise some things about Nefer.

“Change can be difficult,” Nefer offers simply, but not dismissively.
Lauma huffs, smiling in a way that doesn’t quite reach her eyes. “I honestly find it more complicated than difficult.”
She doesn’t regret it, of course. The Frostmoon Scions deserved to know the truth, and she can see that, despite the challenges, her people have proven themselves resilient, and malleable. Adaptable. Many have left, but many others have stayed too, and they’re building something new and something better now because of that difficult truth. She wouldn’t change anything, if she were given the chance to do things over.
But it’s—complicated. More so, lately.
