The way her eyes bore into him made his face itch. The weird honesty was throwing him off.
“No,” she agreed easily, “but… I’m curious.”
Or: Jason and Cassandra discuss morals and gain some level of understanding of each other. Do they like one another now? Hell no, but now they can hate with more information. (They don’t actually HATE each other, it’s just… complicated.)

interesting concept, but jason being perceived as the sole selfish person is odd....??? like yeah if the joker hadnt killed him he wouldnt be redhood, but you can say thay for literally every character in the entirety of literary history 😭 generally like the idea of them talking, but i do think there's a clear pitch here that the author doesn't think killing IS the answer, personal moral philosophy running into the face of the general potential of a philosophical discussion, BUT still interesting and the writing was fun i liked kt

He leveled the hammer at his face. “I’m not, like, a sociopath.” He let out a musical laugh. “I honestly get a little squeamish with gore.” He patted Colton’s thigh with his free hand, blowing out a regretful breath. “I know what it’s like, you know. I was beaten half to death once. True story! The jackass did it all wrong though.” He reached up, patted his cheek.
