Summary
Alfred doesn't have much to work with. He lives a double (yet lonely) life in a dead-end village of endless, mind-numbing mundanity. As far as he sees, just like everyone says, there is no future in store for him. At least, not one worth speaking of.
But when the monarchy's decade-long absence ends, he finds the fate of the Kingdom in his hands (or so he says). In his quest to assassinate the King of Spades—and maybe prove himself—he navigates a realm of politics, investigation, and royal scandal.
But first, he has to get this creep of a prince off his back.
