Gale makes as compelling a narrative foil to Durge as Astarion does; but because he, unlike Astarion, was not written by the same writer as Durge, there is less explicit exploration of Durge/Gale narrative parallels. Thus, this longfic was born.
Alternating POV between Resist!Durge and Resist!Gale. Romantasy novelization of game events, canon rewrite, exploration of scrapped concepts from early access and development. Companions take a more active role in the story. Higher stakes for both the Urge and the Orb. Tara joins the adventure. Orin and Durge’s sibling relationship is examined.
