Summary
Empress Thisbe Kogane of the Galra Empire has decided it’s high time that her son, Keith, found love and happiness. To speed things along, she sent out invites to suitable bachelors across the galaxy for a week-long ball to be hosted on Daibazaal. Small hitch – Keith is already engaged, to the Earthen ambassador Takashi Shirogane.
Keith figures he’ll get through the ball, announce his engagement to Shiro, avoid offending any guests and all will be well.
Keith didn’t anticipate Prince Lance of Altea - charismatic, charming, and far too easy to love – coming through the palace doors and sweeping him and Shiro off their feet.

It makes sense that Ilya’s mind would go there first. Shane said he was outside. Based on past behavior, the hotel balcony is probably the only place Ilya would expect him to be. He feels a little giddy that he gets to shock him for once.
“I’m at a club, actually.” He has to bite back a self-satisfied smile as he speaks, “With the team. Safe.”
It's quiet for a few moments before Ilya deadpans,
“Very funny joke.”

“You are planning to rob me or what?” He hears Rozanov call, and he can’t help but smile slightly even as he rolls his eyes, closing the door to the linen closet and feeling strangely lighter than when he opened it, reassured that he’s just trying to read into a blank page, that today doesn’t mean anything more than Rozanov doesn’t mind him being around, which is strangely flattering.
“I don’t know,” he calls back. “Don’t Russians like diamonds and fur and stuff? Where should I start looking if I want to know what my options are?”
He hears Rozanov laugh, and it makes him smile.
When he joins him in the living room once more, Rozanov tugs him down to lean against him again. Shane goes easier this time, settling into it, knowing it doesn’t mean anything other than the fact that he just happens to be the closest warm body, the person on Rozanov’s roster who filled today’s slot.
