It’s Will's birthday, and like every year before it, he blows out his candles and wishes for another year of Mike by his side. It seems that whatever poor sap that is in charge of birthday wishes has taken a liking to him this year, when Mike brings him out for a private celebration after his party seems to have turned into a more lax Star Wars movie marathon.

Summary
After getting hurt fighting for his life in the Upside Down, Mike wakes up in an alternate universe in which Will never left the Wheelers on the 6th of November, changing everyone's lives drastically. It's up to Mike to find out why he's trapped in this universe and how he can get home.

Summary
Will Byers is no stranger to hurt, whether it be mental or physical.
It’s better that way. Between scrapes, bruises or even the occasional black eye– it’s easier for Will to bear the brunt. Other people getting injured just hurts Will worse in the end, because nine times out of ten it’s his fault. The guilt eats at him worse than any bacteria.
Maybe that’s why Troy did it.

“God"—Will sighs, quite literally star-struck—"It’s so gorgeous.” His neck is starting to hurt with the way his head is tilted, but it's a small price to pay. He wishes he had his sketchbook. In the corner of his eye Mike turn to him, silent for a few beats, just staring. Will finds he doesn’t mind it as much tonight, even with the galaxy as their audience.
“It really is.” It’s a bashful thing, if they weren’t so close he probably wouldn’t have been able to hear him. Mike sounds just as bad, if not more awed than Will, and that’s all it takes for him to break his staring contest and turn to the boy beside him.
