‘Oh,’ she said, glancing out of the box and at the audience milling around during the interval. ‘All these glittering people,’ she explained, gesturing to them. ‘I could never feel at home somewhere so grand.’
Her response tickled him, and Draco laughed. He looked to where she gestured, down at the people he’d known all his life, and saw them through her eyes for one disconcerting moment. It was like looking in an uncanny mirror at the fair, enchanted to show everything backwards. Familiar yet alien.
