Have you ever longed to know about the academic discourse in the background of every soulmate AU?
“Dear Sir,
In your article you stated that soulmates are connected completely randomly through particles. This statement has been refuted by numerous experts in the field of soulmate research who have stated that the evidence suggests soulmates are selected through a non random process meant to align you with the person most complimentary to you.”- Language:

“Oh, just– that I had them, I guess.” Ryland says. He doesn't even really know where he's going with this. “None of my relationships were ever spectacular or anything. Probably because of me. My ex once said that I loved because I had to. I think I’m just thinking about how I'm gonna die without ever getting married or falling in love. Oh God– I don't think I've ever fallen in love.”
“This upsets you.” Rocky observes.

Simon didn’t expect his savior to be exactly his type.
What a welcome sight. Even if this stupidly handsome man ends up being evil, or working for the C.O.I, at least he’d die looking at something good.
or
Grace and Rocky find Simon's ship floating in deep space on their way to Erid.
UPDATE: This fic has been peer reviewed by a NASA engineer who has approved of the science!

Summary
“I thought Viktor died believing I didn’t want to help people like him,” he said. “That I didn’t think it was worth the risk. I never forgave myself. I’ll—I’ll do anything. I don’t care what happens to me. I won’t fail him again.”
Following the tragic and sudden death of his partner, unable to cope with his grief, Jayce Talis resorts to the risky and controversial procedure of severance. Splitting the memories of his work life and personal life, he begins working for HexCorp to forget about losing Viktor for eight hours a day. It's working. It’s helping him. It must be.
Until, one day, a random stranger breaks into his garage claiming to know him, saying there is a way to reverse the severance procedure and warning him that not everything about either HexCorp or Viktor’s death is as it seems.
