Stede still wore Ed’s ring. It was pretty in the sunlight, and at night it stopped glittering and turned handsome on a handsome hand. It had lived in Ed’s pocket for so long, while Ed waited, and now it caught Ed’s attention every time he looked at Stede, and it made him feel sick and breathless. It made him feel deliriously happy.
