"You think I hate you? You think I'd ever kill you?" Sokka holds Zuko's face in both hands, blood dripping from his lips. "I'd fall on my sword for you. I'd find you anywhere. What do you think that means?"
Rescued, but imprisoned, Zuko finds himself no further from death on a water tribe ship. Sokka, the chief, would see him bleeding out on the boards of the deck as justice. He's a fire bender, the evil of the war that his father rages through their world. Zuko hasn't been a part of that war. Not for years. Now he's thrust back into it against his will, finding himself fighting on a side he never expected to be a part of. Maybe he'll find a cause worth fighting for; someone worth fighting for.

Summary
Those who bare the blood of Agni are blessed with special gifts that go along with their bending and for all his life Zuko could hear the thoughts of anyone he could see the eyes of. It had been both a blessing and curse, earning the ire of his father and the knowledge those around him would not impart to him.
Today, with his friends finally visiting after almost a year spent away from him, it was absolutely a curse.
Sokka was sitting at the very end of the council table and picturing Zuko bent over absolutely every surface in the room.

Zuko hisses, his face contorting into annoyance before he feels Sokka’s hand on his face again. Lifting up his chin, making him turn and tilt his head up at him.
“Shut— shut up, you’re— oh— you’re so— annoying,” Zuko pants.
Or: Chief Sokka and Firelord Zuko are bitter political rivals. Everything’s fine, until a diplomatic trip forces them to room together. And Zuko runs out of suppressants.
