Summary
This story is a slow, interior one. It’s interested less in plot mechanics or quick resolution, and more in what survival leaves behind—in the body, in memory, in relationships that don’t fit neatly anymore.
I’m writing June’s recovery as nonlinear and often uncomfortable, and the people around her—Nick, Luke, Theo, Rita—are meant to complicate that process rather than solve it. Love here doesn’t erase damage. Safety doesn’t arrive all at once. Some answers take a long time to surface, and some never fully do.
Nick’s presence in this story is intentional in its restraint. His absence matters as much as his eventual arrival, and when he does appear, it won’t be as a cure or a reward. Choices will stay messy. Feelings will overlap. Growth won’t always look like progress.
If you’re here for quiet tension, emotional realism, and character-driven exploration, I’m glad you found this. If you’re looking for faster catharsis, I appreciate your patience—I promise the slowness is purposeful.
Thank you for reading. It means more than you know.

Summary
In my continued effort to find every point the story could have gone a better way, this story starts at Serena and Gabriel's wedding.
In Episode 8, Nick and June are both present at this wedding. Nick as the dutiful son in law of the groom, and June, dressed as a Handmaid, preparing for a massacre of Commanders. She sees him, he feels her presence, and it was a real missed opportunity.
In this story, they will get a chance to talk and see what's next for each of them and if they can in fact, overcome all that has happened.
