Summary
The last thing the patient could remember was a horizon lit aflame. A curtain of light raked across the surface of the world, kicking up a dust storm harsh enough to flay flesh from bone and burning the air hot enough to cook lungs with a breath. The patient’s memory was scarred by jagged stones shooting across their flesh and dying screams filling their ears. It shocked them to hear again, so clearly against the raging storm of fire that had already consumed the rest of their mind.

The automated supply vessel did not have a name, but the residents of Natter Research Station had called it Argos for as long as Minerva could remember. In an old Terran story, Argos was a dog abandoned by its owner during his long journey as the main character of an adventure. When he returned, the dog was at the end of its years and emaciated, barely alive, but it still was overjoyed to see him. Yet he was in disguise and could not greet the animal.
Lo and I have been ruminating on the idea of a cotyledon story for a long time. Expect it to be a little darker than our usual rampant horny thoughts—if you want something more porny, Sol is Short for Solace is probably a better option.
