Felix takes a step forward, and another, and another, and there are so many sentences that threaten to pass Sylvain’s lips, crashing like a rushing car from one side of his head to the other — you’ve changed so much, but also not at all; did I ever tell you how much I admired you?; sorry I was too busy running from continent to continent all these years; sometimes, it felt like I was trying to write my life story far from you just so I could one day come back and tell you all about it; did you know I’m probably still in love with you?
And Felix stands in front of the counter, and Sylvain pushes the stool out with his foot, and Felix sits down, and the only thing that makes it past Sylvain’s strangled throat is—
“Want something to drink?”
Felix looks at him as though he’s opened a closet door and a dead, rotting body fell out. “I’m not planning on staying here any longer than I have to.”
Aka: the fic where Sylvain isn't over his ex (and is a con artist). Luckily, his ex isn't over him either (and also becomes a con artist).

Summary
It was simply a fact that Ferdinand was free with his affection. A hand clasped on the shoulder of a stable hand who had flushed bright pink to be on the receiving end of the Prime Minister’s smile. A bright laugh and a hand pressed to the arm of a minor noble who certainly didn’t deserve even an ounce of Ferdinand’s attention. A full embrace for Dorothea on one of her trips back from Brigid, lifting her clean off the floor to spin her around and around and around with joy.
The only person who didn’t seem to garner the same attention was Hubert himself.

Summary
“I bleed in excess, Ferdinand,” Hubert says—a murmur, vulnerable, momentary—in a different voice, with a different heart. When he turns back his head, he holds Ferdinand’s gaze like a hand holds a lance. “You simply do not see it.”
Ferdinand looks in wide-eyed shock at the man across from him, whose dark hair curtains one side of his face even now, rendering all expressions incomplete. He wishes, for a stark, clear moment, to reach across the distance between them and brush aside that hair, tenderly, a gesture lost to history, and find what it keeps from him.
