Andy’s mouth was dry. Her lips were dry, too; she licked them, but that did nothing to help. “That’s good,” she heard herself say. “That it’s good, I mean. It’s—it’s nice. I like it.”

Andrea bit down on her lip and sighed softly. “Do you like me?”
Miranda almost screamed yes. Instead, she closed her eyes and forced herself to breathe in and out slowly.
“What answer do you want?” she finally replied.
Andrea frowned slightly.
When Miranda spoke again, there was something dangerously close to pleading in her voice.
“Because I don’t want to make you uncomfortable,” she said. “I don’t want to scare you away. I can manage my feelings, but I can’t lose you.”

It's funny how life goes, because somehow it had taken forty-four years, university, a job at Runway, too many boyfriends, a job in journalism, another job at Runway, a shit ton of hints from Lily, Nigel Kipling, and a salted caramel latte for Andy to realise she was not only interested in men.
Really, she should have realised it sooner. There had been dozens of women she had been a little too obsessed with, hundreds of magazines she had stared at a little too long, far too many films, music videos, books, everything where she had wondered in the back of her mind what it would feel like to be touched by those women. And of course, she always thought it was normal. It was natural for a heterosexual girl to be curious. To want to know. It didn't mean anything. And it really did not mean anything, not when she had had plenty of boyfriends to keep her busy, and when she hadn't, she'd had herself and work and theatre and friends. It really did not mean anything, until she got a second job at Runway twenty years after her first one, and she saw Miranda Priestly drink a salted caramel latte.

As soon as Greg was out of sight, Andy leaned down on her desk, her head hitting the wood with a muffled thud. This was it. This was the end. The series finale. The part where she gets caught in the lie and has to fake her own death and move to a remote village and change her name to something generic like Anne.
Later that night, sitting in her dark living room, she opened her laptop—the light of the screen illuminating her almost terrified expression. Her fingers trembled as she navigated to the only site where people were crazy enough to actually consider her request.

Andrea would either just beam at her, eyes crinkling in that infuriatingly endearing way or playfully comment 'You're a dangerous one' before launching into another rambling story about her latest expose for The Mirror.
It was infuriating, really. She was Miranda Priestly—she didn't do pining, she didn't do crushes, and she certainly didn't do desperate. Yet, here she was, standing over a bubbling cauldron, and clutching a leather-bound, dusty tome in her hand. Coming from a long line of witches had its perks, of course—from the mundanity of keeping the townhouse spotless, to always knowing if someone has it out for her (ahem Irv)—but faced with Andrea Sachs' oblivious smile, and apparent thickheadedness, magic felt like her only remaining move.
