title from "the great divide" by noah kahan (:
"throw a brick into that stained glass," teaser:
“We have a case set for trial this fall regarding an incident you attended on Halloween last year, and we’re doing preliminary interviews for witnesses. We’re looking to speak to—” Catalina referenced the list, “—paramedic Henrietta Wilson, and firefighter Edmundo Diaz?”
Captain Han turned back. “Hen! Buck! Come down here!”
A Black woman slid down the firepole next, followed by a tall, broad man, both in LAFD uniforms, although the man had an apron thrown over it. From the witness files, Catalina noted “Hen” Wilson and Evan “Buck” Buckley, it seemed. “What’s up, Chim?” the man asked, bouncing over to stand next to them.
“They’re looking for Eddie.”
“Oh, he’s at home with the kids,” Buck said easily. “I can call and see if he’ll talk to you?”
Definitely gay, Catalina adds to her observations. Sourdough obsession, thinks grocery shopping is fun.
Or, Abigail's parents are getting charged. Eddie is called to testify.
Cue law student confusion and very platonic cohabitation.- Words:
