The question disarms him, and Homelander answers without elegance.
“Homelander.”
The man raises a brow. “What the fuck kinda name is that?”
Homelander bristles. This name was workshopped by countless focus groups.
“I’m a superhero.”
The man rolls his eyes and groans. “Fuck me, ‘ah course you are.”
“Well who the fuck are you?”
“Butcher,” he replies, collapsing back against the mattress. Homelander can sympathize, those drugs tend to be disorienting. “Billy.”
“Oh, because Butcher Billy is so much better than Homelander.”
The man snorts and Homelander thinks it might actually be a laugh. “Backwards, kid. Billy Butcher.”
