Summary
The stage progresses but Tadej feels stuck on the summit of the mountain pass. The image of Jonas’ figure ahead of him haunts his vision. It makes him take the corners in the descent wrong, going wide, opening up the gap to their front-man. Tadej can exert himself once more on the sprint to the finish line, but even gaining back 2 seconds on Jonas feels impossibly insignificant. His mind is reeling.
It feels like eternity. It's been 30 minutes.

He had traced his fingertips along Remco's back while retracting his arm, unfurling the fire licking at Remco's spine. But they were Remco Evenepoel and Filippo Ganna. And the world didn't need to know that, usually, it was just Remco and Filippo.
