    He remembered the race—P3, not bad. Then the celebration. The blinding lights of the strip, the taste of alcohol, the deafening music, the laughter. And then… red. The glare of red. That was sharper, harsher, and distinctly less celebratory.

     

    What had happened after that? He tried to dig through the haze, but the more he tried, the worse his headache became. Aspirin. He needed aspirin. And maybe a gallon of water.

     

    He tried to shift, but his body protested with a symphony of soreness. Every movement was a struggle, every muscle screaming for mercy. Still, as uncomfortable as the soreness was, it was the pounding in his head that truly made him want to curl into a ball and never move again.

    But then he felt it.

     

    A weight across his torso, warm and heavy, pinning him down.
