THOUGHT GAINED: AMATEUR ENTROPONETICIST
PROBLEM: You’re picking back up the pieces of this thing you call a life, and that’s great. But this whole *pale* situation is really throwing you. Few people have anything useful to tell you-- even less are actually willing to talk about it. But there are people out there who revere the pale, who welcome its coming like a new Innocence. Why? What is it about the pale that draws some people in, but terrifies others? And why do you even care? You’re a detective-- figure it out. It might be important.
Some thoughts about the pale, based in chaos theory and molecular kinetics, because I am a biochemist at heart :)

burn that feeling in your mind, you will learn the hell it takes to be this kind by HistorianRoo

Summary
Retelling of Season 1-8 of Game of Thrones, with each season recieving a different oneshot in this series.
The worldbuilding is borrowed from Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" specifically the use of the "daemon" idea, which is defined as: "A daemon (/ˈdiːmən/) is a type of fictional being in the Philip Pullman fantasy trilogies His Dark Materials and The Book of Dust. Daemons are the external physical manifestation of a person's "inner-self" that takes the form of an animal. Daemons have human intelligence, are capable of human speech—regardless of the form they take—and usually behave as though they are independent of their humans. Pre-pubescent children's dæmons can change form voluntarily to become any creature, real or imaginary. During adolescence a person's daemon undergoes "settling", an event in which that person's daemon permanently and involuntarily assumes the form of the animal which the person most resembles in character. Daemons are usually of the opposite sex to their human, though same-sex dæmons do exist."

Summary
“When dead whales sink down to the sea floor, they become a whole”—Grace waves his hands in a big circle and draws out the word to emphasise his point—“ecosystem for a tonne of bottom dwelling creatures down there.
“To them, it’s the equivalent of an oasis falling from the sky and landing in the middle of a desert. It can feed them for decades, and gosh, the microbes that can be found there. I would love to study a whale fall...if they weren't at the bottom of the ocean. Eugh.” He shudders dramatically. “If I never have to go in a submarine, I will die happy.”
Eva wonders if the whale died happy. Or, at least, happy to know its death would bring life to so many. Surely that was a comfort when faced with the end.

Summary
Max doesn’t know much about Rachel but at the same time she does—in the kind of way people know what historical figures did to be remembered and nothing else.
(Max doesn’t know either if seeing a dead girl in her dreams means she’s going insane, but she’d been through worse hasn’t she, and all she’s ever gotten are nosebleeds and searing headaches.)
***
Max lives like the dead and starts seeing a dead girl in her dreams.

Summary
What Max doesn't realize is that when she abandons a timeline, she also abandons a version of herself within it. A version of herself with different memories and a different life— a version of herself with no powers. A version of herself that, once possessed, is never the same.
A version of herself that must deal with the consequences of the choices she has made.
