Summary
“But I do not want to be a third squire! I want to be the only one.”
Baelor closed his eyes for a moment, striving not to let irritation rise at such stubbornness. To his misfortune, most of his children had taken after their mother’s temper. And to his greater misfortune still, Baelor adored that difficult nature in the omega, and had done more than anyone when it came to spoiling his brother-wife rotten. Now he paid for his sins, seeing near all the pups born with much the same spirit. But Baelor could hardly blame Aegon.
In truth, it was unjust. They had promised something, let him dream of it, and then never conceded him the thing he desired most. He would gladly have granted the boy his wish, yet where was he to find a knight without a squire that happened to be fancy enough for his son's liking?
At Winterfell for a Stark wedding, Prince Baelor hopes for a quiet visit with his mate Maekar and their unruly brood. But when he has to face the lists for the first time in years, he sees how, even beneath the frost, the fire inside his omega has never gone out.

Summary
Prince Maekar Targaryen was twelve years old when he presented as an omega, and twelve years old when the court decided his body was worth more than his will.
A royal omega meant alliance. Children. Useful dragonblood.
So King Daeron gave him to a widowed Lannister lord with no heirs.
Baelor, his prince, tried to save him. He bargained with gold, promises, blood, and pieces of the king he had not yet become.
It was not enough.
On the eve of his wedding, Maekar died.
Or so everyone believed.
Years later, a wandering knight rides toward Ashford with a boy too tall for his wits and a sharp-tongued, silver-haired bastard named Aisel Rivers, who smokes bitter herbs, bites harder than he smiles, and knows too much about princes, poisons, and how to become his own self.
So, a dead prince, a false dragon, a drunken prophet, and a knight with more heart than caution walk into Ashford.
And that is almost the beginning of a joke.Bookmarked by ppots

Summary
Baelor is thirty six, the crown prince, and has buried one wife already. He did not ask for another but a rebellion does not care what you ask for, and so he found himself wed to a brother half his age in the name of Targaryen unity.
Maekar is eighteen, an omega, and has spent three years at Summerhall understanding exactly what he is to his husband; an arrangement. A political necessity. An afterthought, not that this is anything new.
With the rebellion reshaping itself and a unified front to maintain, they are summoned to King's Landing to begin the marriage in earnest.
Neither of them is particularly pleased about it.

Summary
Watered beds of familial affection, weeded roots of winding worship. Like a garden, Baelor tended his little brother's reverence. It was wrong surely, deceitful, manipulative. But Baelor was a good brother, and he always gave his brothers what they wanted.
