“I love you, Sweet Pea,” Betty beams, retrieving the Rossi from the small of her back.
“I love you, Wendy Darling,” Jughead returns, charging the pistol.
They stand together, and she yanks him forward by the front of his shirt to give him a quick kiss. His heart is racing, but the resolute calm in her eyes settles his pulse to a pleased pace. He reminds her to meet him at the rear exit in five minutes, no sooner and no later.
She smiles and nods, and then she fires one warning shot into the ceiling to start the game. “Everybody on the ground!”
