Summary
Will’s lips pulled away only to land feather-light kisses on his chin, his cheek, his eyelids—a touch so faint it could easily have been the product of Mike’s imagination. Only the hot breath against his skin was a thread that connected Mike to reality; he wasn't lost in limbo, he was right there in the tangled sheets with the man who held his entire being in his hands and did it so gently, so gracefully, like no one ever had before.
“Sleep now,” Will whispered; it was like a lullaby to Mike’s ears. “Sleep, Mike…”
So he followed the command. He finally let the darkness take him, convinced that when he opened his eyes, the world would still be exactly like this: warm, quiet, and full of Will.

The Paladin fell silent for a moment. “But tell me one thing. How is it possible that in this world, young Michael is not in love with you? I assumed we would be soulmates in every realm.”
That question was a sharp knife to Will’s heart. How could he possibly know? It wasn’t something he could control or change. Of course, there were times when Will had held some hope for reciprocity, but eventually, all his dreams had simply fallen apart. Mike had a girlfriend. Mike wasn’t a mistake like him.
“I don’t know…” Will whispered.
“Maybe his heart is sleeping,” the Paladin said. “You must wake him with your touch. Take his hand and speak with your heart.”
The one where Will accidentally summons a Paladin version of Mike, and learns that true soulmates can speak through the touch of their hands.
