Summary
“What? I’d date you!”
In every game of truth or dare, Jeno has always picked truth. This time, it feels like he’s picking neither. “Sure you would,” he scoffs sarcastically, the back of his neck sparking with heat and electricity. “Even I wouldn’t.”(Alternatively: Five times when Jeno doesn't take Jaemin seriously when he confesses, and the one time that he does.)

Summary
Marriages were always a political gesture. You, marry your daughter to my son, and then our diplomatic bond will be public and non-reversible. It was a statement more than anything. A show of trust. Insurance against a falling out. Jaemin did not want that. Jaemin did not want to marry a princess. He wanted to marry someone of his own choice.
Why did the princes in fairy tales always get to marry their true loves, but the princes in real life did not?
Jaemin looked out the palace window to the twisting waves, and wondered how fast they could carry him away.

Summary
Despite how long they’ve known each other and how Renjun has witnessed the entirety of their longstanding feud, he just doesn’t seem to get it. Renjun doesn’t get how Lee Jeno’s soft smiles are empty facades put in the face of their rivalry because he knows it irritates Jaemin. He doesn’t get that Lee Jeno snatches up extra study spaces and research opportunities just to get in Jaemin’s way. He doesn’t get that this grant they’re both after is reserved for just one person, the top of their department. He doesn’t get that Lee Jeno is brilliant and an actual threat to Jaemin. And he certainly doesn’t seem to get that Jaemin refuses to back down in the face of challenge. He just doesn’t get it.
Or:
Jaemin and Jeno are masters students battling each other for the same grant. When Jaemin finds himself stuck with sharing a study room with his long time competitor, he’s forced to come to terms with the fact that maybe there’s something else between them other than just deadlines and rivalry.

Summary
“All eyes on us, huh?” Jeno pauses to wave at the cameras, the edge of his lips quirking up playfully.
“All eyes on us,” Jaemin agrees, gazing proudly at the bold words emblazoned on the movie poster behind them.
And all eyes on them indeed.
(Alternatively; Jaemin is forced to act alongside his rival for an upcoming film, and he learns two things in the process. One, hating Jeno is a little too hard. And two, falling in love is much easier.)
