Kei never said he loved Fuma. But he never let him go either.
Their relationship never had a label. Still, Kei treated Fuma as if he belonged to him. The jealousy came easily. The restrictions came subtly. He decided who Fuma could be close to and who he couldn't. He made Fuma feel guilty for something as small as laughing too long with someone else.
And Fuma accepted it.
Because he thought that was how love worked. Because he was afraid of losing him. Because he believed that if he were patient enough, kind enough, devoted enough, Kei would eventually change.
On the other side, Nicholas had loved Fuma first. Longer. Quieter.
He saw everything. He saw how Fuma slowly made himself smaller for Kei. He saw how Fuma’s smile turned into effort instead of instinct. He saw how Fuma was always the one apologizing, even when he had done nothing wrong.
Nicholas had tried to step closer once. Tried to confess his feelings, half hidden behind a joke. But Fuma was too busy chasing Kei to truly notice.
And in the end, Nicholas stepped back. Not because he stopped loving him. But because he refused to become another weight in Fuma’s already complicated life.
