Roy is not there when Jamie comes out of knee surgery.
The hospital lights are bright and they scorch his eyes as he opens them. So he closes them and turns his face into his pillow and moans petulantly like a child, because his knee fucking hurts and because he can. He can hear a voice croon his name and gentle hands push his hair out of his face. They can’t be Roy’s because Roy’s hands are larger and have calluses on his palms and, last Jamie checked, he does not wear lavender scented hand cream.
