"Wait a second," Kai gasps. "What?"
Wolfgang quirks an eyebrow and tilts his head slightly, shooting both Kai and Damon a curious look. "Is there a problem?"
Damon Maitsu has been roped into attending a week long summer road trip with his class. He would be able to enjoy this already frustrating experience much more if the universe stopped pushing him and Kai Monteago together at every opportunity.

Summary
Online, Kai Monteago can garner attention. Attention, and therefore attachment. He can perfectly curate his image to ensure that everyone loves him. Slowly, he begins to build a following. He attracts people who will love him. Who will defend him against those who don't. It's another lesson. Some people will love you, while others will never understand you. People can change their mind and choose to leave, but never change their mind and choose to stay.

Summary
Carlton—the one Mike imagines—is a journalism major. He loves Back to The Future, and pretty much anything sci-fi. Growing up, he was a middle child, which left him starved for attention, and therefore the ability to stick his nose in all sorts of places it didn't belong. That's where he discovered his love of journalism: at only 12 years old he broke a major case in his small hometown. Mike's not 100% sure what it was—a mayor corruption cover-up, maybe? He's outgoing, and he pushes Will out of his comfort zone. If there's one thing Mike knows about Will, it's that he needs that. He's never tried DnD, but he's willing to. Maybe, if they're together for long time, he'll join the party for a session. Will isn't with him for his looks, but he's pretty handsome. Scruffy black hair, thick eyebrows, tall (but not too tall), and lean. When they stand together they just make sense. And he's strong, because he knows it's his job to protect Will. That's his number one priority: making sure Will is happy and cared for.
Will introduces his boyfriend to the party for the first time, and he's nothing like Mike expected. This causes him to crash out. Hard.

Will does his best to keep the annoyance out of his voice as he reminds Dustin, "I didn't last year."
"Well, last year you had Carlton," Dustin reasons. "This year you don't."
"I do," Will insists.
Will Byers returns to Hawkins for November 6th out an obligation to the party. This forces him to come face to face with Mike Wheeler, who he’s been ignoring ever since he acted like an absolute ass to Will’s boyfriend a year prior.

Damon reacts on instinct, shouting, "Get the fuck away from me!"
Adrenaline courses through his veins; he doesn't think before he's slapping the hand away from him, desperate to get away.
Only somehow, miraculously, their hands don't touch. Not because Damon misses, but because his hand falls through the other man's.
Instead of reacting with shock, like any normal person, a look of understanding crosses the shade's face. "Oh. Oh."
"What the hell are you?" Damon finally asks the right question.
As if to reward him, the being answers, "I think I'm a ghost."
On Halloween, a strange man appears in Damon's bedroom. He claims to be a ghost from a future he warns Damon to avoid at all costs, but what is it he's asking Damon to give up?
