Summary
“He would talk to you, you know,” Tony called after him. “If you’d let him. If you treated him like a person sometimes instead of a threat.”
Clint paused, that one hitting home. He deserved it. Maybe they all did. But the truth, too, was important, and that’s what Clint gave Tony as he turned to give him one last look before leaving for his rooms:
“He is a threat, Tony. And the quicker you and he get to accepting that, the quicker this torture can end.”
In which Tony, Bruce, Clint, Pepper, and others have to face reality, and don't like how it looks.

Summary
A week had passed since the night Steve returned to Phil’s rooms, and though that first night was tender, each successive evening had grown more tense. Steve had tried being jovial, taking this settling back into routine in stride, but he’d grown increasingly paranoid that people were watching them, talking about them. He came later every night, conversation awkward and halting, instead all hands and lips and silent need. Every night, Steve brought Phil to climax, and every night, Phil felt it grow more mechanical. The air they shared grew colder with every time.
In which Phil Coulson and Steve Rogers discover just how painful it can be to fall for someone.

Summary
“Did someone tell the Hulk he could have our fighter plane?” a voice asked loudly. In the background, the Hulk growled his disapproval, and Adam could hear Tony trying to explain around stomps and snarls. There was a terrible screech of metal giving way, then shouts and a couple of startled cries.
In which Jamie and Adam film a Mythbusters episode, taking on the idea that Hulk is the strongest there is!

Summary
No one else was willing to see this for what it was. They called it an accident, a lapse. An issue. They brushed his shoulder as they walked by, hid sympathetic expressions, changed subjects. They pretended things were normal, okay, unchanged. They didn’t ask for explanation, and Bruce didn’t offer any.
Because, in the end, there was no justification. This was murder, and Bruce was guilty of it.
Bruce accidentally kills someone, and doesn't deal well with the guilt.

Summary
Bruce grumpily blinks Steve’s direction, trying to focus on him from under that unruly bed-head mop of shaggy curls.
“You really need a haircut, Bruce,” Tony remarks, and Natasha nods solemn agreement.
Even Thor looks over and manages, between mouthfuls, to remark upon the general state of the brilliant doctor: “This unkempt look does not suit you, Banner.”
Even something as simple as a haircut is never truly simple when the Hulk is involved.

UPDATE: I completely rewrote the ending of this piece on 07/03/12. The other ending was a little too insane for me. So if you're looking for that level of nastiness, it's not here any more. Sorry.
Bruce was carefully rolling clothes, packing a tiny bag, small enough to carry over one shoulder, when Tony found him. Anger rolled off them both, the kind borne of need unrequited, and they stared at each other long. Loki watched.
Tony broke the silence. “You can’t just fucking leave.”
“I can,” Bruce replied, and Loki thrilled. “I have to. Unless you’re telling me I’m a prisoner?”
Tony looked stricken. “No,” he responded automatically, then sought other words as Bruce kept packing. “But...Bruce, we really need you. With us.”

Summary
Tony was starting to worry about Bruce. The man had become far more withdrawn in the past few weeks, and he seemed to almost never leave the lab. At this point, Banner’s scruff had scruff, and he hadn’t actually had a meal, Jarvis had informed him, in four days. He was rough, withdrawn, sour. And ever so slightly just plain pissed off.
In which something big shifts inside Bruce, he and Tony race time to figure it out, and a secret long buried sees the light.
