Summary
Suddenly, the bathroom light turned on, causing Kevin to snap his unfocused eyes to the door and catch a glimpse of grey sweatpants and a black hoodie.
"Kevin?” A voice said, scratchy from sleep and whispering. “What the fuck are you doing?”
Kevin froze; he knew that voice, and the blur of blonde hair only confirmed his guess.
“Aaron,” he mumbled, knowing the difference between the twins immediately.
-
Some nights, Kevin can't sleep. Memories of dark hallways and 16-hour days flashing through his mind every time his eyes close, keeping him awake. He sometimes ends up on the bathroom floor, living through his worst nightmares.
And one night, Aaron joins him.

Summary
“Liar. I know you’re planning on buying a house and keeping one room as a sleepover room for us with blankets and photos of us on the wall and a separate TV.”
Kevin made a strangled noise, causing everyone to look over in concern but immediately relaxing when Kevin smiled at them- a real Kevin Day smile. He turned, affronted to Andrew who was trying to hold back a snicker.
“You read my diary bastard!” He hissed over.
“Don’t leave it in the open then.”
“It was in the back of my third draw?!”
“Yeah. The open.”

Summary
Palmetto State University experiences a category six earthquake. Andrew Minyard, trapped in a crumpled building and waiting for help, suffers through the dark and damp room with another student he can’t see and doesn’t know.
The other student, as one does in a life-or-death situation, fatalistically begins sharing all his secrets—he hates cookies, he thinks his roommates are kind of annoying, he kissed a girl and he didn’t like it, he grew up with the mob, he has a million dollars, he’s killed a man (well, probably).
But Andrew and the stranger are eventually rescued and do not die.
And the stranger in the dark disappears without even a face for Andrew to put to a name.
