Martin sleepily looked up at Jon, and coughed.
“Hi Jon. Good to see you,” he rasped. Jon could now tell that Martin’s dark brown eyes were slightly glassy, and that he was shivering slightly.
“Hey,” Jon replied, smiling softly. “I’m here.”
He felt the urge to brush Martin’s curls from his glistening brow. He wanted to hold him and tell him “it’s going to be okay,” over and over again. But he quickly pushed those thoughts down, instead clearing his throat and turning away.
or: One rainy fall morning, Martin calls in sick and Jon ditches work to take care of him (or as he calls it, "maintaining the effectives of the Archival team in the name of professionalism").
Martin allows himself to be taken care of, and Jon reexamines how he views Martin.
