Isabella is content living a happy average life working an average little job that she's actually pretty good at. Even reeling from a recent break up, she knows that, like a fractured bone, she'll only come out on the other side harder and more resilient. But for now she just needed a little time alone to feel whole again. Date herself. Do more yoga. Commit some petty crime no one will even notice. Maybe take a cooking class.
Ian hates LA. Nothing good has ever happened in a city with this much traffic. Yet a job has once again dragged him back to this godforsaken city. To make matters worse, he's pretty sure the tiny blonde with the flirty smile definitely just stole his wallet. No one has ever stolen from him and lived to tell the tale, but then again... he's always liked playing with blondes.
A minor misdemeanor meet cute turns into a whirlwind romance held together by a series of ever escalating lies and inevitably collapses into unforgivable betrayal and explosive consequences.

Hope
From the moment I could form a prayer, my only dream was to be chosen by the Light Church.
At twenty-five, all I have left is a thin thread of hope that there’s still a life worth living beyond this town, so I kneel in the storm-lashed church and beg the Creator for escape, for any door out of this cage.
I just never imagined the answer would come with tattoos and hands that knew exactly how to break anything they touch.Levi
This grimy town was supposed to be just another job, but the last thing I expected was to find a sweet woman who cleans my wounds with trembling fingers and whispers prayers as though words could unmake me.
She thinks she’s saving my soul.
She’s only feeding the part of me that wants to ruin hers.My mission hasn’t changed, but every time she looks at me with those wide, hopeful eyes and begs her god for mercy, I wonder how much sweeter it will taste to prove her wrong—to show her that no light, no prayer, no god will keep her safe from what I’ve already decided to take.
She prayed for escape.
And I will give her exactly what she’s yearning for. -

Summary
“Georgie,” she whispered. He crouched down by her chair and took her hands in his. They were cool, small and fragile in his. He had loved her almost his entire life. Sweet, compassionate, kind, Marci, with her bright smile and ability to get along with everybody, her inability to see the worst in people. He struggled not to squeeze her hands too hard. He looked into her eyes, and he forgot how to breathe. He loved her. He loved her so very much. He didn't think he could survive without her. Her voice was suddenly very hoarse, and her eyes filled with tears. “I want a divorce.”
He stared at her, not processing what she just said. He looked deep into her eyes. Kneeling there, he remembered looking down into her eyes on their wedding day, holding her tiny, trembling hands in his, returning her brilliant, beaming smile with one far too small of his own. His heart had been pounding in his chest, he’d hardly heard the pastor’s words over the swishing of blood circulating through his ears, and to this day, it was the happiest moments of his entire life. His eyes darted back and forth between hers.
His chest ached knowing it wouldn’t be enough to make him stop.
“No,” he said simply and then stood.
