Summary
Gods can tell when something supernatural is near. It is palpable, an almost solid weight in the atmosphere. When nearing Olympus, the thin mountain air becomes thick and heavy with divinity, pouring out over every gilded surface, glinting in the sunlight. Hermes knows what power feels like unencumbered and free flowing. How it sparks out of the fingertips of heroes, and settles softly like dewdrops in the hair of nymphs.
This? This was different.

Hermes has a secret. A place he goes where no one will bother him, a break amidst the whirlwind of his tasks. A place to soothe his aches and worries, where he thought he would never be found.
Until a man stumbles in. Tall and alluring with black hair and gold eyes, desperate to know him. It's the perfect antidote to the slow poison of knowing his heart's true desire will never love him back. Or is it?

Summary
The beginning of this is a developing relationship between Charon and Hermes. Then there's a chunk of Hermes trying to find a way to talk to Charon, which, crucially, doesn't involve actually talking to Charon. Then Hermes gets cursed and Charon has to ferry him to the bottom of the Underworld to fix it.
There's also a lot of Hermes interacting with other characters. And a dream sequence! It's fun, I promise. The death/suicide tags are references to mortals. It mentions their lives and death, but it's not discussed in great detail. Just a few sentences.
"The Boatman still didn't really attempt to communicate with Hermes that much, but he was greeting him and nodding along once in a while. And sometimes, when they were exchanging coin, the tips of Charon's fingers would touch Hermes' palms.
That's all Hermes wanted, really. A little bit of courtesy and recognition and… fingertips."

Summary
You do not know how many seconds lie between your birth, and the first time you spot the godling on the shore. You do not know how many seconds lie between the first moment you witnessed a glitter of gold and this one. How many years, how many eons. You have not begun to count time, yet.
All you know is that there is a new gaggle of shades on the riverbanks, and towering over them, an Olympian.
