Cheeky prologue for you-
Caitlyn interrupted with a sigh turning on her heel and yelling. “DETECTIVE LANES— YOU’RE NEEDED!”
Silence.
And then— “I’M COMING!” Was yelled back along with a few muttered swear words which Caitlyn was going to ignore for the time being.
Detective Lanes walks up through the precinct, scowl on her face, which would’ve been more intimidating had she not been wearing a party hat, holding a cupcake, and definitely had tears in her eyes.
Caitlyn just crossed her arms as she waited for Vi to finish her catwalk. “You have a visitor, Lanes. Stop crying and take that ridiculous hat off.”

Vi gripped her vodka soda like it was the only thing tethering her to reality. Which, given the current state of things, it might have been.
Three hours ago she'd been on set doing her own stunts because Dad insisted—"You're a Lanes, we do our own work"—even though she'd been awake for thirty-six hours straight and could barely tell left from right. Two hours ago she'd been in her trailer doing lines with some producer whose name she'd already forgotten, her hand too high on her thigh, her phone buzzing with angry texts from Dad that she'd ignored. One hour ago she'd popped two pills that were supposed to be Adderall but definitely weren't, washed them down with champagne in the back of an Uber, and told herself she'd just make a quick appearance before going home to crash.
That was before she saw her.
