You could hear a pin drop from a mile away. One hand clapped over her mouth in mortification, Lucy kept her gaze firmly fixed on her companion, no matter how much she wanted to curl up and die. The Ghoul’s expression was inscrutable at the best of times; in the dark of night, he was completely and utterly unreadable, right up to the moment where he waltzed up to Lucy and knelt on one knee, hazel eyes boring into her own.
“That all?” He almost sounded bored, his lazy drawl lingering in the air, pricking at the hairs at the back of her neck. “What, they didn’t teach you how to take care of yourself in that vault of yours?”
Lucy has a problem. The Ghoul has a solution.
