Kevin looked at him dubiously. “Are you just saying that because you’re embarrassed about being attracted to a person that smells bad?”
“No,” Andrew said, narrowing his eyes at Kevin.
“Okay,” he said, drawing out the vowels and raising his eyebrows. After a moment of hesitation, he continued, “It’s okay if you're attracted to that kind of thing, I wouldn’t judge you. I mean. I would. But I wouldn’t say it, so you could pretend that I didn’t.”

Summary
Neil usually approaches sex as a fun activity - like a day at the amusement park. Exciting when he goes but not necessary to his survival. In fact, most of the time, he's able to get by without it. Until today, that is.

Andrew blinked his eyes open. His eyes were liquid gold from the sunlight filtering in through their bedroom window and Neil wanted to drown in the color, wanted to stare at Andrew forever.
Andrew narrowed his eyes at Neil, rubbed one with his fist and yawned, “You’ve been watching me sleep again.”
Neil grinned and brushed Andrew’s hair back from his forehead, moving slowly in case Andrew wanted to tell him to stop but Andrew let him, even leaned into the touch, nuzzled his cheek into Neil’s hand, “I like watching you sleep.”

“I’ll give you a hint,” Andrew says. He rolls his eyes and turns Neil to face the house again when he tries to look at Andrew for the hint. “I hate him the most in the world.”
Neil stops at the threshold just before they cross it to turn towards Andrew. “Me.”
Andrew is grateful for the old t-shirt he borrowed to cover his chest, because the flush creeping across his body is sudden. It is embarrassing how quickly and confidently Neil answered, but more embarrassing that he guessed himself first.
Andrew manages a cool, “That’s bold,” which is not a denial.
Neil blinks slowly then says again, “Me?” This time, it’s a question, and Neil’s whole face transforms with it. His mouth falls into an ‘o’ as Andrew watches him process this in real time. “This is you confessing to me?”
“Don’t make this weird,” Andrew says flatly.
Neil sobers up, serious now. “It’s not weird,” he says. “At all.”
But somewhere in there, wires get crossed and a message gets lost.

“What are you planning on doing, Andrew?” Wymack asked him, discarding the piles of paperwork littering the desk and turning his full attention to the conversation at hand.
“Going away.” Andrew told him, lighting up a cigarette and wondering the same thing. He hadn’t figured all the details out but that could be rectified by spending a week in Columbia on his own searching for jobs and apartments. He had enough left in the bank from Tildas’ life insurance to secure a lease until he found work. The only question was where he was heading, he wasn’t interested in sticking around Columbia where he could run into his family.
“You only just got off the meds, have you thought this through?” Wymack asked, leaning back in his chair and scrubbing a hand over his thinning hair. “I know Exy has never been the endgame for you, but I thought you’d stick around for the degree.”
Andrew shrugged carelessly. A degree didn’t mean anything unless you had plans to use it and Andrew wasn’t that committed to his future. “Sorry, coach. Exy just isn’t what I needed it to be any longer."
-Neil was never recruited to the Foxes. Now Andrew must face the world without his drugs and he's not impressed.
