“Max,” he says, panicking. “What’s going on?”
Max – who is rarely left speechless – is currently just that. Her eyes rake Will up and down before finally meeting his gaze.
“Don’t panic,” she says slowly, arms outstretched towards him. Too late, he thinks. Then she says the exact words he was praying she wouldn’t.
“I’m not sure how,” she starts. “But I think you may have turned into a…girl.”

He has a job he loves at Lantern House Publishing, a department that runs almost entirely on caffeine and stubbornness, and a promotion that has been practically promised for months.
Unfortunately, Will is also an unbonded omega.
Which turns out to matter a lot more than anyone bothered mentioning until the position of Creative Director is suddenly no longer his.

“Does it need to be like ceramics last semester? Do I need to drop you off and pick you up at the door again like a fucking preschooler?” Will shakes his head as best as he can, a whimper escaping from his lips. Mike grips his jaw tighter. “Speak.”
“N-no, Mike.” Yes, actually, Will wants to say. He liked it when Mike did that last semester, walking him to and from class like Will’s big, scary guard dog. Sometimes, if Will was lucky, Mike would wait in the hallway during his class, clutching some mass market paperback, spine cracked and curled in on itself. Even big, scary guard dogs have owners, Will would think as Mike stayed put for him.
In which someone asks for Will’s number and it makes Mike murderously angry.

Those protective instincts kick in and Mike can’t help himself as a crazy, irrational idea takes root in his mind.
An idea that has absolutely nothing to do with seeing Will practically naked in a speedo two nights a week for an entire year. Nope. Definitely not.
“What if I joined the team with you?” Mike blurts, reddening.
Or:
Will and Mike join the Hawkins High swim team in their senior year, spend waaaay too much time together in teeny tiny speedos and one thing leads to another at the pool…
Setting: Post Vecna-defeat (except El lives because she deserves a better ending, just like our boys do), their final year of high school but I’m aging them up to 18 because the content is explicit. (I head canon that the total devastation of Hawkins resulted in their normal high school trajectory getting delayed because that makes more sense than what the Duffers did.)

Will used to know how to create things. Now, at thirty-three, everything feels stuck.
His studio hasn’t been touched in years. His body no longer follows the timelines it once promised. The life he spent a decade building ended in a way he still doesn’t quite know how to recover from.
He tells himself he has time. It doesn’t feel true—but it’s easier than thinking the alternative.
He doesn’t expect anything to change. He definitely doesn’t expect someone to walk into his life and change it.
Especially not someone younger— someone who looks at him with something dangerously close to adoration.
